Safety / Speed Cameras in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Since July 2006, when I moved to Dubai, I have been marking the safety / speed cameras in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on my GPS. Refer above for a screen print of my .gpx file. I now have a collection of over 300 safety camera waypoints throughout the UAE, as well as a few red light cameras. Each waypoint is named in such a way that you can easily determine whether the camera is set for 60 km/h, 70 km/h, 80 km/h, 90 km/h, 100 km/h or 120 km/h. The waypoints are saved in various files - - - one file contains my full collection of safety cameras, for all speed limits. I have then broken out individual files for the 60 km/h cameras, 70 km/h cameras, etc… This allows the user to upload the safety cameras to a GPS using Garmin’s POI Loader software. Using that software, you can set your GPS to inform you either I) when you are over the speed limit, or II) within a certain distance of the camera.
I am willing to sell my .gpx files based on the following pricing scheme.
o A once-off subscription for all files – USD 100
o A free lifetime update for all files (for as long as I live in the UAE) – USD 250 (to be distributed every six months)
DISCLAIMER: I do not guarantee that all safety cameras have been captured in my file, and you agree to use the file at your own risk. In addition, it goes without saying that driving below the designated speed limit is the safest way to reach your destination.
CONTACT ME: Please send me an e-mail to charlesarnestad@gmail.com specifying which subscription you would like. I will send you an invoice through PayPal for payment, after which I will e-mail you the .gpx files.
